IMHO, Juan Diaz is Mexican American and he can fight for both countries, just like having dual citizenship, yes he is American but we all know he is Mexican
just like Brian Villoria, he is Filipino American and although USA has another world titlist everybody knows he is Filipino ...Comment

Then what is an American??? Since none of you can really answer this question.Originally posted by JOM'SIMHO, Juan Diaz is Mexican American and he can fight for both countries, just like having dual citizenship, yes he is American but we all know he is Mexican

Most of the answers here seem far from the truth at the Mexican-American issue.
Mexican fans appreciate boxers they dont just have to be brawlers and believe it or not they dont even have to be 100% Mexicans, but what wins the heart of Mexicans is one that represents.
Contrary to popular belief Mexicans love Oscar. Yes some hate him, but most love him.
I admit i dont really like him, i think he coulda continued agaisnt Hopkins, and I feel that he does a disservice to boxing by hyping up mild- to non-threat opponents and fighting once a year. Either retire or get to fighting.
As for Juan Diaz, I like the kid as a person, but i simply dont think he has what it takes to take on the other diaz, or corrales, or Castillo.Comment

Will you just did. They are Mexican & Pinoy bloodline, but they are real Americans first & that is the fact. This is why we have so many damn parades in America. You can still be proud of your bloodline, but if you're born In US, then you are American first, no ifs & buts about it.Originally posted by JOM'Snobody is taking away that Juan and Brian are Americans, they surely are being born and raised in the US...

Unless someone can tell me what makes a person American, but I guess no one can't.

Oscar represents.... despite others thinking he's a sellout. But he's not a brawler and that's why there's a mix of the two elements. You and I both know they wan't to see people die by the sword in a fight, if they carry the ****ing flag into the ring with them, or enter with mariachis, or fit the bill like it's supposed to be.
Fact remains....you'll find some that hate him or love him.
It's perception man.
