Comments Thread For: Photos: Peter Quillin's Very Scary Knockout of Zerafa

MASHANTUCKET, CT - Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin (32-0-1, 22 KOs) knocked out Michael Zerafa (17-2, 9 KOs) in the fifth round on Saturday afternoon from Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBC.

Quillin and Zerafa exchanged power punches throughout the affair, with the underdog Zerafa landing several big shots that stopped Quillin in his tracks. In the fifth round, a powerful right hand from Quillin connected with Zerafa and sent him tumbling to the ground as referee Arthur Mercante Jr. waved-off the fight. Quillin landed 47 percent of his power punches and out-landed Zerafa 54-38, per CompuBox. [Click Here To Read More]

Quillin looks to have regressed since the Rosado fight. He showed no setup to his punches. It's almost like he's solely relying on that beautiful overhand right completely now which is sad. If Jacobs prepares for that punch, he should be able to simply outwork Quillin.

This is a guy who didn't have much of an amateur background and since signing with Haymon after Kushner, has become pretty inactive 1-2x per year. Then he was forced to vacate his world title and suffered massive backlash. He looks to have fallen from the #2 MW spot without ever losing it in the ring.

What's wrong with Andy Lee? Dude's always been a legit top 10-15 MW, and proven to be a top 5, especially if he beats Saunders. Lee has some flaws, but he's well schooled, mentally tough, and has potential KO power in both hands if he sets you up.

It's a shame when guys like this get years cut off their life because of desperation and he need for the money. You just knew Peter was physically stronger and he would win but seriously? Did you need to swell up in weight to beat this guy?

Undefeated Australian. Talk about a give. Never heard of him, most Australians never heard of him. Quillin did his job, but the match maker is dangerous.

Sick of watching the gross mismatches by Al Haymon. This was Rod Salka-Danny Garcia all over again. Also, are the announcers going along with these fights? I didn't watch the whole fight; did any of the announcers criticize this?

I believe Marv Albert made comment about what's the point of weighing 160lbs if you're going to rehydrate back up to 180lbs, but other than that they tried to validate Zerafa as a challenger.

I'm just glad Macklin turned down this fight with Quillin. Peter would've killed him, which is sad since Quillin turned down a better version of Macklin in favor of Konecny.
