  • Comments Thread For: Fury Battles With Kickboxers To Prepare For Klitschko

Although we contemplated basing ourselves in Ireland for The Big One, we'll now be in England for the full duration of the camp and then go to Germany one week before the fight. We've got a lot of help here and a set-up already established here. It just made sense, I think, to stay in England for this Klitschko fight.

At this point in camp, the work is very focused and intense. The sparring started on Monday and Tyson is well on target. He knows what game plan he has to use and we're working towards that strategy on a daily basis. We'll keep working and working on it until it becomes second nature.

Fury's people sound as if they don't know that Wlad's bother, Vitali was also a world champion kickboxer. I have to wonder if Wlad sees any value in using kickboxers as sparring partners for his fight against Fury. Maybe Wlad is seeking out comedians instead.

The only time you'll see a "peter fury" that makes sense is in a p orno--ZING! Sorry. Ok, that aside, Mercer, Kimbo, Toney, all the guys that haven't transitioned over well from boxing to MMA or kickboxing is because you're restricting yourself to half of your body, and that's how the mind thinks when it's kickboxing. You know how to use both, but only because you can use both. I'm not taking anything away from his camp, because obviously he thinks he knows what's good, but when you're in tight on a kickboxer, he wants to resort to using his legs (i mean, seriously), so you're getting to pot shot guys who are normally thinking different because you're painting them into a corner. Whether it's an intimidation factor or not (no Klitschko interviews like this--guy is a robot set on win), you guys may wanna focus more on the training, because you're a +350 underdog and those vegas cats don't like to lose.

They wont really be able to find somebody fitting for sparring, though.

All they need to worry about is a good paramedic.

Maybe Adam Booth could lend a hand, bring along those platform shoes and a glove on the end of a stick he used to help prepare Haye for Klitschko.

I think Rico and Tyson have been working together for a while so this isn't new. But Rico is a big guy in great shape with a sneaky jab, probably a better sparring partner than most boxers.

He should be sparring with grapplers for this fight.
