When is an Opponent Considered Leftovers?

Obviously there have been fights that broke a fighter down to nothing and he was never the same. Chavez-Taylor I is a perfect example. That was a fight where one man took a beating he never came back from.

However, is a fighter considered leftovers if he gets dominated by a boxer, but never really gets physically hurt? Like say, James Toney's loss to Roy Jones. I would not call Toney leftovers after that fight by any means. He would go to fight many more times and win more titles.

So in my opinion, without serious physical damage, I can't picture a fighter being called leftovers.

Then again, I suppose a fighter can get psychological scars to the point where he does not engage anymore, like Camacho did after the Rosario fight.

Haha. Well, that seems to be somewhat the case this year. Big disappointment from the man who did get face planked.

I think Mararito was leftovers after the Mosley fight. That was a beat down through and through.

Haha. Mayweather did not make leftovers out of anybody. He would never put his fists through that kind if abuse.

                    depends on the context
obviously a string of losses means a fighter's best days are ending but sometimes it cna just be one fight

If fighter A is holding out on fighting fighter B then fighter B takes a bad loss and fighter A is suddenly ready... He's picking leftovers

even if he wasn't physically hurt everyone knows losing psychs you out
