Larry Merchant WON'T be watching Floyd Mayweather fight Andre Berto on Saturday night ... because the legendary boxing commentator says that any Mayweather fight that doesn't involve a higher level of opponent of middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin is a total waste of time.

Merchant was out in L.A. recently when we, of course, had to ask for his expert opinion on the fight in Vegas this weekend.

Merchant is being quite transparent and obvious ... He knows better than anyone that GGG is with HBO and Floyd is with Showtime. GGG isn't on the level of a Manny pac-man, which eliminates any possibility of the networks coming together to make the fight happen.

WHEN Floyd decides to go for his 50th win GGG would make the best opponent. GGG already said he would drop to Jr. middleweight to fight him. Floyd has fought there numerous times so it shouldn't be an issue.
I don't have an issue with FLoyd fighting Berto if it were free on NBC not for the ridiculous 70 bucks.

Bc fighter a never tried to go into a division to face the 2nd best fighter, while fighter B has tried to at 168. Just face it we don't want to see GGG drain himself to 154 lbs for Floyd. he was a amateur middleweight and is a career middleweight which isn't near 154. He's also 33 soon to be 34. The brain fluid from fluctuating in weight would hurt GGG much like other guys who felt they were good enough to fluctuate weight (hatton Williams dlh just to name a few)
