Comments Thread For: Roy Jones: If Old Berto Returns, We'll Get Money's Worth

Former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. has no issues with Saturday's Showtime Pay-Per-View headliner, which is going to feature Floyd Mayweather Jr. defending his WBC/WBA welterweight titles against Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Berto is viewed as a huge underdog in the contest. Going 3-3 in his last six fights and coming back a year ago from major shoulder surgery, very few people - if anyone - is picking him to pull off an upset.

Listen unless Haymon convinced Floyd to take a dive ain't a way him hell a guy who got out boxed by Guerrero is beating Floyd. I mean shhh it would really take Hunter coming into the ring and hitting Floyd with a ring post at this point.

to be fair floyd is not going to bring it like ghost..much better than ghost, but he is not ghost stylisticcally..berto didnt get outboxed he got outworked and fouled a lot.....pressure wise berto could do something depending on how floyd fights...and lets be honest it's been a few fights where i said wtf is floyd doing...sometimes i just dont think he's using the right gameplan..and even if he got the win i have the right to think he could have made it easier on himself

chino 1..pac going to the ropes when pac did a terrible job cutting the ring off..sometimes i just dont get his train of thinking

Money? This "fight" isn't even stream worthy. IF and I mean IF there are a few punches landed in this "fight" by either side, the 15 second YouTube recap will be up faster than the "Mayweather Schools Berto" headline on this site. BUUUUUURP.

Old Berto would be interesting, I doubt he'll turn up though.

Naa. I don't have to watch it live. The story is more predictable than ever. Berto is small, got short arms with average skill and facing a guy with probably the longest arms in the division. Mayweather will once again run, potshot and do everything to survive. I don't think he will clinch in this fight. That's too much to take for fans for such tons of advantages.

Don't even know why you would even think of paying for this fight.

Vs Zaveck was a tough brawl that showed Berto was tough against a still live Zaveck. THAT fight would have proven 4 years ago what Berto was worth, if Zaveck hadn't gotten stopped on cuts. Personally I question if Berto would have won if it went the distance.

But now we have a deck so huge and so stacked, there's really no way Berto wins. Even if he does in fact win. But yeah, old Berto would give Floydie all he could handle.
