  • Comments Thread For: Jamie McDonnell Earns Repeat Win Over Tomoki Kameda

Jamie McDonnell repeated his feat from four months ago, outpointint Tomoki Kameda in their bantamweight championship rematch Sunday afternoon in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Scores were 117-110, 116-111 and 115-112 in favor of McDonnell, who scored the bout's lone knockdown midway through the 12th and final round. The decision wasn't well received by the crowd, whose reaction seemed to agree with the CBS broadcast view that Kameda deserved the nod. [Click Here To Read More]

Straight robbery, wow. One of the worst judge scoring I've ever seen.

I had it 116-111 Mcdonnell, he controlled the pace and landed more consistently.

Everyone who justifies this with "he moved forward and was the aggressor" doesn't know how to score a fight. Aggression alone doesn't win rounds, and there is no way McDonnell won more than 5 or 6.

the way i saw it, kameda got forced onto the backfoot, was gunshy all night, held on, got knocked down, while mcdonnell just peppered him with jabs and straight rights

if there was going to be a robbery, surely it would have been in favour of the popular japanese/mexican, not the obscure brit

Not robbery at all. I had it 115-112 for McDonnell, similar to one of the judges. The other two cards were a bit wide IMO. But the right man won.

mcdonnell showed some nice pressure and bobbing/weaving for a guy who usually fights on the outside

Sound quality was absolutely ***ing horrendous! Commentators were too quiet, crowd was deafening, sound going out frequently. I mean what the hell?!?! Oh and terrible decision. It was a competitive fight, but clearly should have been Kameda's win. He landed the much more telling punches and even though he took his foot off the gas in the mid rounds, his movement was effective enought to throw McDonnell's plan off.

Even without the knockdown I thought he won clearly, if you think Kameda somehow won this you either have an agenda or blindly listen to those who do.
