Comments Thread For: Stiverne: Wilder's Run Embarrassing, Povetkin Ends Him

Former heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-2-1, 21KOs) is still sitting on the sidelines, hoping to return in the very near future.

He was scheduled to face dangerous Luis Ortiz on the Gennady Golovkin-David Lemieux undercard on October 17th, but that match fell through after his promoter, Don King, refused to sign off on the fight. Stiverne signed the contract as soon as he received it.

Stiverne has been out of the ring since losing a twelve round decision, and his WBC title, to Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33KOs) in January. Stiverne was hospitalized after the fight due to severe dehydration.

truth is Al haymon is not paying ppl to **** ride his fighters...
      33 wins 32 kos 0 losses...today that screams p4p list
      2nd ranked HW..
i've said it before neither wilder or ggg should be a p4p list, but i know why wilder is not and GGG is
i dont get the rush on the povetkin shot..he's staying active and looking to fight povetkin in 2016 after building his brand all of 2015..he'll likely be fightin in december as well and ppl still hating bc they dont know the names

JD is a more complete fighter than wilder and i dont think stiverne couls handle JD's volume and ability to mix up his punches..

Well, this embarrassment beat your ass to get the title in the first place. What does that make you?

Povetkin has a better amateur background and is better all over. Haymon knows his guy could easily loose. Therefore he wants to make a deal with Povetkin's promoter to have home turf advantage, local commission, judges, ref. on Wilder's side. It will be Las Vegas and Nevada Athletic Commission and only US judges and ref from there.... If I were Ryabinski I would try to bring the fight to Moscow.

I didn't expect Wilder to jump straight into a tough fight after his win. And a homecoming fight - Fair enough. I get that.

But why this guy duhapas or whatever his name is? It really adds nothing. Why not a Chris Arreola or Tony Thompson? At the very least an American so the public would get just a little bit excited.

He's been matched carefully his entire career, and I don't see that ending any time soon.

I picked Wilder to beat Povetkin on the back of each of their world title performances. But gotta say Povetkin has found his style lately and looks like a killer. I haven't seen many improvements with Wilder.

I like Povetkin in the fight, but Stiverne is just being salty.

Stiverne was more embarrassing the way he fought against Wilder, he got outboxed easily by a dude who had never gone past 6rds i think lol
