He is specifically reaching out to Mexican and Latinos to build up a fan base for his young prospects who most of which are Mexicans and Latinos it's a smart move. For non Spanish speaking fans you could of watched the fight on ring tv. They streamed it live on their website.

You can't compare him to canelo or Chavez jr because both turned pro in high school as young teenagers. Their first few years were basically their amature career. They did not start fighting real fighters till 30 plus pro fights in. Diego is only a year and change as a pro with a dozen fights and is already fighting better competition then Chavez did at the same age. Canelo is different he had already unified world titles and fought mayeather at age 22. That is unique you don't fight p4p Champs at that young a age. But he had already 40 pro fights and turned pro at 15. Not a fair comparison.

Until these pretenders fight each other and prove who is a contender, I'm not one damn bit impressed. Joseph Diaz Jr., Diego De La Hoya, and Julian Ramirez have no problem fighting each other's opponents, ANYTHING but each other. Tonight was nothing but a setup yet some people are so damn gullible to not see through this crap. De La Hoya fought a guy who couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag. Can anyone be THAT ****** to think Ruiz stood a chance or anywhere near a 50/50 threat? That's why Showtime shows 15-0 guys fighting 19-1 fighters and 18-0 fighters, because THE FIGHTERS and THEIR TEAMS are willing to take a RISK and put their records on the line in equal matchups! *** these endless Golden Boy setup cards where the script was already written before the start of the fight!

Don't even kid yourself. He has over 250 Amateur fights and the guy he fought was not a 50/50 fight which is EXACTLY my point about ShowBox fighters and their management willing to take risks and fight in tons of 50/50 fights. All Goldenboy shows have been reduced to is predictable setups. When someone can 100% predict the outcome of at least fifty Goldenboy main events, something is ***ing wrong! At least Haymon cards have far more evenly matched fighters and surprising outcomes. Goldenboy cards are nothing but a farce.

Diego keeps looking better and better after every fight. I'm very impressed.

It looks like Mexico has found themselves their next good, potentially great, trio in DDLH, Oscar Valdez and Rey Vargas.

This has nothing to do with the opponent he fought, this has to do with the fact that THREE fighters in the same division are fighting ANYONE but themselves, even their opponents!! And they didn't have ShoBox when Mayweather was young. There is no excuse for the three pretenders to not fight to determine who is a contender! Let me know when these 3 fighters fight someone who they are a 50/50 against! Otherwise, I'm done watching setup fights which is exactly what Goldenboy shows have been pathetically reduced to.
