Apparently, Rios feels betrayed by Maidana. He claims the Argentine boxer gave inside information away to then opponent Diego Chaves. Maidana was Rios' sparring partner in preparation for the Chaves fight. Rios says Maidana knew about his injured arm and told Diego Chaves all about it.

After the fight, Rios is seen in an arm sling with Maidana.


HBO boxing announcer Jim Lampley said during the Rios-Chaves broadcast that Diego's best friend is Maidana.

In the fight, Chaves targeted Rios' injured arm. He wrestled with Rios, pulling on his arm, trying to injure it more.
