Johnson vs. Tarver - a draw?

Okay, okay, it's old to most of you - but it's new to me, I've only just seen it. Personally, I had it as a draw. I can see why someone could edge it towards Tarver, though I can't see why two judges had Johnson winning. Oh well.

i felt johnson won the fight and the main reason being that even though tarver fought a good fight his style is too defensive. i don't think i saw him move forward once that whole fight. he moves to the side or backwards always and that doesn't lead to ring generalship not only that but also being such a counter puncher he remains 100% defensive.

If you break the fight down into 30 second intervals, you cansee that there are intervals where Tarver doesn't try to do anything.

For example, lets say that Johnson lands 20 punches in a round, and Tarver lands 25. Every 30 seconds, Johnson lands 3 or 4 and on the last 30 seconds Tarver lands all 25 of his shots to try to steal the round. Even though Tarver landed more cleaner punches in the round, the judges still give the round to Johnson due to his workrate throughout the round.

At the end of the day, the fight was very close. I had it 7-5 for Tarver, but I gave him the 4th and the 12th.

Luckily they are going to do it again, and maybe their will be a clear winner this time.

              hmm

I remember watching the fight and feeling that it was close, but that Tarver barely won. However, I was glad to see him get his just desserts for being an ass and that's exactly what he got. He took too much credit for beating an old Roy, and it bit him in the ass.

              Respect.

You are not alone. I also scored it a draw, though I predicted Johnson would win while scorecards were being tallied. He won the last 3 rounds! Whoever wins those key rounds usually wins the fight.

Tarver's lose face is absolutely legendary.

I've seen that pic b4. That was after the Roy fight I think, but I could be wrong...funny as hell though.
