This isn't nearly as bad as you all are pretending it is. Chaves is a top 10-15ish WW who was in line to get a title shot against Brook anyway.

Not great, but decent. Brook needs to get a good fight afterwards though. Hopefully the Bradley talk for next year wasn't just talk.

I'm gonna slightly defend Kell Brook and British boxing in general here.

There's a huge double standard when it comes to US and European fighters. The US is clearly the home of World boxing, it's where the biggest broadcast audience is and selling tickets is far easier, you can make a decent gate and a wide number of venues across the country, all with their own little niches and support bases. However, that doesn't mean fighting outside of the US, especially in Europe, is a disaster. The European market is huge for the right fight, ticket sales are massively impressive (the use of stadiums equally so).

Certain fighters will have leverage if they're of a certain ability or hold value (i.e. a World title). Brook has that, and he earned it beating up a top level competitor in Shawn Porter in his home country. Now, nobody has to, but if someone wants a freely available World title to compete for, they should take that risk and come and get it. The sense of entitlement from US based fighters is a worrying trend, everything is now automatically deems themselves unmovable in negotiations e.g. Wilder telling Klitschko of all people their fight has to be in the US.

Take the risk. People complain about 'ducking' and guys being scared to go up in weight for fear of losing an advantage, no one will do the same for fighters scared of travelling in a worldwide sport. Malignaggi went to the Ukraine, it massively paid off. Hopkins, a beacon of light at god damn 50, is gonna go to Germany and push for greatness.

I prefer the Chavez fight to Brandon Rios.

Realistically this level of fight should probably have been one his tune up fights rather than the end of year blockbuster though.

Hopefully next year they can get some decent fights for him.

this will be brook's second best opponent to date. chaves gave rios and bradley good fights, in fact he got the better of rios if i remember right

I think its a good fight, but then again I don't think Kell Brook is a world beater like everyone else on NSB. I think he has a lot to learn, he has had a lot of fights, but not very much experience at world level. The Dan/Gavin fights were European level and quite frankly poor fights. This is a step back onto the right path and whilst it still feels like treading water he needs these fights in my opinion before he steps in with a killer and risks it all.

I can see why fans and other fighters at WW are irate, but Hearn has done the best thing for his fighter, the guy has made money over the last year, built his profile further in the UK and not taken any risk. Now its a progressive step up before he probably goes into a big fight next year, and I would imagine that is a mandatory in the first part of the year and then Khan or one of the other champions in the summer. That is the likely script they have written for him, a lot is dependent on other individuals of course, but I would imagine something like this to play out.

                Its a good fight.

It's against a top 10 WW in what is a far better fighter than Rios or Alexander would be. It's the same posters as always complaining about Brook as they always do, its reached the point of being sad.

By the way Chaves winning is not out of the question, he is dangerous. Kell's chin really hasn't been tested by a big puncher like that. People take this for granted I think, just because Brook has looked like a million dollars in recent times doesn't mean he is as sturdy as battle tested guys like Bradley and Rios. There are some question marks here, the more I think about it the more I think this is a really intriguing fight and probably the first I will tune in to since Porter.

Il be honest a decent test for brook, im not a fan of his resume but im interested to see how he handles chaves. Be a good fight i think with chaves being a good counter puncher and fast one too might do well, but he has a leaky defense so its intriguing match up id say

I disagree - but it depends on what we are talking about. If it is excitement then I would have Chaves and Rios on a similar level, maybe Chaves slightly ahead because of the hitting power. If we are talking bout difficulty then Alexander is probably the top of the list. He is the most proven and difficult of the 3 fighters.
