Comments Thread For: Cesar Cuenca Faces Troyanovsky on Povetkin-Wach

35-year-old Russian junior welterweight contender Eduard Troyanovsky (22-0, 19KOs), who captured the IBO championship earlier this year, was initially scheduled to fight on September 5 in Germany. That fight has been canceled, because his promoters have managed to secure a much bigger prize.

Surprised a light-punching belt holder like Cuenca would again give up home-field advantage, especially in his first defense and against a decent challenger at that. Good for him, although I suspect he won't have the title much longer

yeah, for his first defense this one looks like a hard fight, at least on paper. but if he performs as good as he did in china, it will be difficult to rob him, even away from home

            Cuenca should outbox Troyanovsky.
Troyanovsky has problems with technicians, see Troyanovsky-Shakhnazaryan

A combined 70-0 record, so you know it's an ATG fight.

Cuenca chasing Mayweather, aiming to reach 49-0 not long after him. Understandable as that fight would be a real war, multiple knockdowns and both guys refusing to take a backwards step. I would give Cuenca a chance against Floyd or anyone really but only if he eases up on his crazy all-action attacking style. Dude is clearly in love with his power and one day focusing everything on the KO might cost him. No wonder Maidana and Matthyse left Argentina to avoid this guy though, I hear he got power punching lessons from Shavers but after 5 mins Earnie was asking Cuenca to show him how it's done.

Cuenca was dropped in his last fight so Troyanovsky has a puncher's chance otherwise he's getting outboxed.
