There are 3-4 fights that didn't get made early in Floyd's career and I believe if these fights would've gotten made people would look at his resime completely differently, first was in 1999 againsz Shane Mosley at 135, Arum offered team Mosley the fight and team Mosley said it was too early.
Naseem Hamed at 128 in 2001 (before the Barrera fight) would've catapulted his career but the prince didn't want it, If I were him I wouldn't have taken it either, the size difference was probably too much.
Joel Casamayor at 130 before he lost to Freitas, Casamayor didn't want it
Kostya Tszyu in 2004 for the undisputed 140 lbs title, Tszyu was reluctant and a year later he lost to Hatton and retired, would've been a good ppv fight.
Floyd called them all out, Bob Arum however couldn't make these fights happen for him and imo he's to blame, if even one of these would've gotten made Floyd would've become a ppv star earlier than he did, but it is what it is.Comment

Team Mayweather is trying so hard to turn Berto into this great figher that he isn't. It only counts when you beat guys who are champion when you fight them. Beating ex champs is no big deal. Mosley just beat ex champ Mayorga. How impressive. I would respect Mayweather more if he just said Berto is an easy fight and too bad if the fans don't like it.Comment

A record is a record, don't compare him to fighters from 60 years ago, compare him with fighters since the 80s, there were also multiple sanctioning bodies and the same weight classes as now, nobody in modern boxing did what he did, let's see if someone can break that record.Comment

He made 140 twice in a row before Mayweather and three times in a row afterHatton is a different issue imho.
We all know that bringing up smaller guys is a little lame.
But that wasn't the case with Hatton.
NOTE: I am NOT suggesting that HATTON was better at welter than he was at 140.
Hatton made his name at 140, and he had almost all of his success there.
What I am suggesting is that Hatton was a better welter than he was a jww, at that point in time.
1) he had been fighting at 147 before Mayweather
2) he was no longer a young fighter
3) his weight struggles were well-documented
At that stage, Hatton was literally killing himself to make 140.
Mayweather fought the better version, at that stage.
. He wasn't growing into 147, he was moving up only to take individual fights (Mayweather, Luis Collazo 3 fights before that). I mean he was a big guy between camps but he wasn't adding much quality mass, he would have had that fight at 140 if Mayweather would have been willing to do that.

lol yeah, Hamed was a little guy. I don't know if he could've dealt with Mayweather's substantial reach and height advantages. Plus I always thought Hamed didn't want to fight Marquez, so someone with an extensive amateur background and who was rated P4P probably wasn't on his radar either. There are 3-4 fights that didn't get made early in Floyd's career and I believe if these fights would've gotten made people would look at his resime completely differently, first was in 1999 againsz Shane Mosley at 135, Arum offered team Mosley the fight and team Mosley said it was too early.

Break what record ? His padded one ? And how can you compare him to guys in the 80's when the divisions were so much deeper and guys fought more frequently? Your right no one in modern day boxing has cherry picked like he has ..A record is a record, don't compare him to fighters from 60 years ago, compare him with fighters since the 80s, there were also multiple sanctioning bodies and the same weight classes as now, nobody in modern boxing did what he did, let's see if someone can break that record.Comment
