People need to realize that Bradley was overweight and depressed heading into the Provo fight and he underestimated Vargas and got lazy in the last round. When he takes a boxer seriously, he boxes like he did in the JMM fight, using the jab and movement.

i think it's just flat-out naive to think that this version of tim bradley has the mental capacity to pick and choose when he wants to box and when he wants to maul guys on the inside, he's shown over the past 18 months that he can be lured into a slugfest and this isn't what you wanna do with Matthysse, the few times where Garcia actually traded with Lucas (first half of the fight, and the last round), Lucas got the better of him. I'm not saying Garcia is better than Bradley or vice-versa, my point is trading with a puncher isn't a good idea

yeah the marquez win was impressive, but that was a pure stylistic matchup that suited Tim (tim can fight slick, and he can maul you, he out-slicked the counterpuncher vs JMM, stylistic nightmare for marquez). I'm not so sure that Tim Bradley exists anymore.

Lucas can counterpunch, but he's shown to be above average at being aggressive mid-range, and above average at boxing off the back foot throwing combinations if his opponent is coming towards him

I rate this version of Matthysse higher than the version of Marquez that Bradley fought

Diego Chavez was competitive w/ Tim Bradley, let that resonate for a moment. The Tim Bradley that whooped up on Alexander and Marquez is a distant memory if you ask me, just watch Tim's last 3 fights bro.

By the way Bradley sparred with Matthysse and said he hits harder than Provo. Also, Matthysse spars with 18 oz instead of the usual 16.

I'm a big Matthysse fan, i'll never miss a fight of his but let's be real here. Bradley would beat him on points by a wide margin. Bradley has too much resilience and stamina to be stopped by Lucas.

Tim Bradley's punch resistance has drastically declined and he's not as sharp anymore. The Jessie Vargas fight was ugly...albeit a clear Bradley win. Bradley was almost knocked the fcuk out by feather fisted Vargas at the end of their fight. Matthysse would absolutely murder Bradley at this stage.

Matthysse is a very hard worker and has never looked gassed, Ruslan gave Bradley a chance to recover but Lucas doesn't stop punching, especially against a light puncher.

Tim puts on his boxing shoes and beats Matts to the punch all night. Bradley will be fully aware of Matts power because they have already sparred before (did people forget that?)and he knows what is being brought to the table.

You're severely underrating Matthysse's boxing skills.

Dude outworks his opponent and sometimes gets sloppy but he can and will turn into a boxer-mover and just rack up the points when he needs/wants to. People can't see past his vulnerabilities to appreciate how well-rounded he really is. Dude is beating and has been beating tough competition with no KO power which means that his other attributes must be too much for the opposition to overcome, with the exception of Pac where he injured his legs both times. In fact, he was whooping Pac's ass until he tweaked his calf in the rematch.

Also, let's not pretend that Chaves is some chump or something. He was undefeated heading into the Thurman fight and was beating Thurman until he got dropped. He also beat up on Rios in that fight. The guy is rough and he fights dirty, no one has looked "good" against him.

Matthysse is a good boxer and one of my favorites. He, like Bradley started eating crushing punches from Ruslan as that fight progressed and there were a few times that he was lucky he didn't get dropped by those left hooks.

All I'm saying is the fights that Mayyhysse has struggled in were against guys who could move around the ring. I don't count the Garcia fight because he was winning that until he went blind in one eye. I can see Bradley staying at distance and countering Lucas when he tries to close the distance. Bradley knows first hand how powerful Lucas is and he won't be trying to slug it out with him, it'll be jabs and quick counter punches with a lot of foot movement.
