Ward is kinda screwed because at 168, all the other big name fighters are with other promoters who won't take a risk in fighting Ward. Kovolev is about the only fight that could get made, and it's a death sentence for Ward.. He isn't going to take that fight, and no one else is gonna fight him at 168.. Ward is in a lose/lose situation

The guy is fighting on an undercard, he can't get people to watch him fight for free. He is irrelevant as can be even if he never fights again people won't even notice.

yeah but the problem with the lineal championship is that a fighter can fight bums for years and years(what ward has been doing for 4 years) and he never officially loses that status, but what he does lose is respect by trying to fight truax, sartison, periban, smith, and zac dunn while turning down bute, froch, stevenson, degale, etc...all the best in his division on top of refusing to move up. a fighter doesn't have to move up but if he does stay in a division he better fight the best and fans shouldn't keep giving him a free pass for being "lineal champ" without fighting anyone good anymore. if ggg won the lineal championship and then tried to fight 5 unranked guys in a row i would not be a fan of that, but then again i'm not biased like some people.
