Comments Thread For: Roach: I'm Not Afraid, Cotto-Golovkin Could Be Next!

The World Boxing Council has mandated the winners of the upcoming high profile middleweight fights to face each other.

On October 17th at New York's Madison Square Garden, WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin will face IBF champion David Lemieux in a unification bout. On November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Miguel Cotto will defend the WBC middleweight title against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Sorry but Roach's ego is way out of control. He's not the fighter.

So going 11 with Murray isn't late? Last time I checked,he was beating the crap out of him in the late rounds, and he didn't look tired.

Did I read that right that Roach said if Cotto beats Canelo he'll probably fight Golovkin down the line? If so, it's already "down the line" Freddie! Cotto's been ducking GGG like the plague and never had any intention of fighting him, even though he is the lineal MW champion. The fight with Canelo had to be mandated with the stipulation that the winner faces Golovkin. If Cotto actually beats Canelo, the only reason he would fight GGG is because he would be forced to do so or vacate his MW title. I think Freddie knows as well as anyone, GGG would mop the canvas with Cotto and thus "Down the line" probably really means when Cotto is retired.

Well too bad your opinion on the matter hold absolutely no say in the matter as you have alluded to in the past before.

Just for the record, I've always liked Cotto but he's no longer the man to beat, regardless of what Roach, Angel Garcia or anyone else says! Cotto has been in a lot of wars over the years and has proved his worth in the ring. There is no shame in retiring before you get obliterated by the new MW king who is in his prime and hasn't been in any wars or taken serious damage like Cotto has.

People who honestly think cotto is scared of ggg i mean give me a break. Its obvious he didnt want to take a risk before getting the canelo fight signed and can you blame him? he ended up pulling in 30 million minimum. i mean lets be real though cotto as much people talk **** is a warrior. Him taking a knee to a guy who had bricks in his gloves does not change that. I dont know i just think the word duck has been thrown around way way way way way too often lately. If cotto and ggg both win ya hes obviously going to want a catch weight which is fair considering ggg is way bigger. long as hes realistic about it like 157 158 but i dont buy that hes scared of ggg. i mean these are boxers we are talking about they might be scared they will lose money cause of taking a loss but they are not scared of another fighter
