Would Broner take less damage under Roach?

Broner has good power, speed, reflexes and chin. His work rate is very slow though and can be shutdown easily with swarming styles. Even in the Maidana fight, when Broner started to let his hands go, he had Marcos on his heels. Anyone else think Broner could be an awesome offensive fighter under Roach? Maybe with how much boxing experience he has already had, you just cant teach an old dog new tricks. He has yet to use footwork or a dynamic approach to mounting a varied offense in fights.

I just can't see these two mesh well stylistically and otherwise.

Basically. He was pampered in his career and fought smaller guys. Once he started fighting better guys, or people his size, you've seen what he's made of. He doesnt let his hands go, anymore, because he doesn't like getting hit by guys his own size.

Stranger things have happened. Never would have thought Cotto would end up with Roach. If you ask me, whether Floyd is giving him good advice or not, Broner isnt listening and is really self destructive. He had no humility in the Porter loss and heard he went back to raging like always after a fight

Roach, Sanchez, Jackson, Garcia, anyone but that idiotic team he is with now, who actually thought it would be a good idea to turn him into a clinch machine in his last fight. Stafford lets Broner run the show, and this far into his career, he still doesn't have his own identity as a fighter, it's cribbing various bits from Floyd's career and trying to make it work. And it doesn't.

It's a futile topic really because Broner doesn't have the maturity to seek change.

I completely agree. Its one of the stranger things I've seen but you see a guy like Broner with so much potential and he is emulating Floyd when he fights. He needs to be broken down from the ground up. But I think your right. He is too stubborn to change what he has been doing his whole career. I'm surprised Floyd hasnt pressured him to mature, grow the h*ll up and stop banking on his likeness

If Roach can motivate Broner to work harder, it might work. But it appears that his poor work ethic will make a trainer change irrelevant.
