  • Comments Thread For: Hopkins Warns Not To Overlook Berto in Mayweather Bout

The fight is less than three weeks away. Andre Berto (30-3, 23KOs) will challenger WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Showtime Pay-Per-View will carry the card.

Berto is a sizeable underdog in the contest. Some bettering circles have Mayweather as high as an 80-1 favorite. Berto is 3-3 in his last six fights and his biggest win in the last few years has been Josesito Lopez.

In an ironic twist, the usually inactive Mayweather has actually been more active than Berto, who is averaging one fight per year since 2012. Mayweather fought twice in 2013, twice in 2014 and the fight with Berto will be his second of 2015.

obviously berto will bring it win lose or draw and anyone who cant see mayweather is losing it fast his last great performance really was canelo and since his age has quickly started to catch up with him and even long before that really. since his hand injuries hes had to turn into the fighter you see in the ring today and ya he can still win most fights with his in ring brilliance but the reality is the guy is aging fast and he cant turn into a brawler because of his hands. now obviously berto was picked not just cause hes easy but also because floyd wanted a fight that will be entertaining rather then him edging out a points win over a porter or thurman or even khan anyone who dont think him constantly hearing about how boring his win over pac didnt have an effect on him picking berto is delusional.

obviously i would bet my house car and life savings on floyd winning if my life depended on it but if floyd keeps fighting there is no doubt his age will catch up with him

Hah, nice try Hopkins. You can't convince me that Berto can win this fight. At least Buster Douglas had a substantial height and reach advantage (1ft more reach) over Tyson, Berto has literally nothing that Mayweather doesn't have as much or more of.

Bhop trying to get on team TMT or get a gig with Mayweather Promotions? Helping hype a bs fight that isn't even a GBP fight seems odd.

                    May/Berto

If Pac-Man wouldv'e beaten Mayweather and then said he was fighting Berto....nobody would say squat. It's hard being great boy I tell ya.
