Few would begrudge Mauricio Herrera a victory having lost more than one close, controversial decision in his career. The Californian’s bout with Hank Lundy last month was shaping up to be a highly entertaining one before cuts to Herrera prematurely ended the contest in the fifth round.

Herrera recently spoke to BoxingScene.com to reflect on the short encounter with Lundy and discussed the continuing post-fight back and forth with the Philadelphian.

“I was so mad because it was a big fight for me, I wanted to look good,” Mauricio explained regarding the cut.

Hank Lundy really is a classless POS.

He whinged the entire build-up about being the B-side, tried to start a fight with Herrera in a crowd of women and children, headbutted Herrera twice, cried like a bitch when he lost by a point in a close fight which ended early thanks to cuts from his headbutts then he insults Herrera's wife about her looks like the classless fool he is.

I used to think he was okay, talking just to hype the fights but the imbecile doesn't know where to draw the line, he was obviously never taught any manners.

Lundy embarrassed himself in that fight and keeps making himself look dumb. He headbutt Herrera and spoiled the fight. And when the fight got stopped celebrated and even clowned Danny Garcia in the process. So glad when the judges had Herrera winning. Who celebrates because a fight is stopped because of headbutts? Acting like you did something special. Chump did nothing and then talking smack after the fight about the guy being a drunk and starting with his wife. I gave first 2 rounds to Lundy and after that Herrera took over the fight and had all the momentum into the 5th. Only reason he won the first 2 rounds was because Herrera was freaking out about the cut. Once he got over the shock of the headbutts he was outboxing Lundy. The right guy got the decision.
