Haymon will get both fighters more money then they have made their whole careers, and the fans can get the fight on NBC (Kovalev fought here before right), or ESPN (Just add Max Kellerman to the broadcast team).

That's what i don't get with the excuses, this is the exact reason why a purse bid was created in the first place. For me there is zero excuses especially when you are the one that called for the purse bid, accuse Adonis (Who i really do not like) of ducking you.

In this instance i really cannot back Kov, he is ducking this fight plain and simple, all that excuse about HBO etc is just excuses in my book.

Stevenson is following the Mayweather model. There are so many titles (67 I believe) which results in tons of so called top ten fighters per division which can be cherry picked to extend unbeaten streaks just about indefinitely. Until there is one world body and one title per division this will continue forever. The way it is now any promoter starts there own so called independent ranking system then requires you sign a contract with them to fight for their title. Stevenson is a good fighter but hasn't fought the same caliber of opposition as Kovalev and IS ducking him because his handlers deem he's to big of a risk. In my mind Kovalev is the world champion and Stevenson is just another fraud with a belt. Unless Kolavlevs skills dimininsh Stevenson will continue to fight nobodies or washed up dimished named fighters to pad his record.
