Duva knew that even with HBO money she couldn't out bid Haymon. She walked away.
I will ask you the same question I have asked everyone else. And that is where do you get your information? Do you know Duva or have some kind of inside source? If not how do you possibly know what they were thinking or what their plan was? I believe it is more likely as well as plausible that Kovalev really wanted to fight Stevenson and Duva simply pulled the plug when she realized that Main Events would get steamrolled with the purse bid. Kovalev also seems mighty loyal to Main Events and therefore I assume he simply went along with her decision.

      Gotcha !

      So.....
      Boxing fans, support the fighters.....
      Fighters, support their promoter.....
And HeroBando supports TV networks giving fighters exclusive contracts.

When you have finished examing the TV deal, gate sales, numbers, promoters, managers, etc..... do you ever actually watch the fight?
And of course this idiot misses the point completely, like every other time lol.

The fight can happen on HBO if Stevenson wants it. For a lot more money and exposure he normally gets. If he won, he revives his near dead career. But there's a hitch. He's gotta win. Maybe it's better fighting no risk opponents for much lesser rewards? Stevenson sure thinks so

      • IMO Duva did right by sticking with the HBO contract. That's just smart planning for the long haul. I don't know how long the contract is, or for how many fights, but thru thick and thin they'd still have that. And probably even if Kov loses a time or two along the way.

But of course forever we'll hear from some fans with the excuse they walked away from a purse bid. Just like Oscar getting stopped by a body shot from BHop I think, Floydie being Head Ducker in the sport, the supposed 'phantom punch' with Ali/Liston, Pac/JMM with pac getting KO'd, the list goes on and on. Fans remember a fighters worst ever moment, no matter what has transpired since then.

Boxing is and has always been a hardball biz. And bottom line is ... it is a business first. Fighters have to make the most money possible, best career moves, situate themselves in the best possible scenarios, etc etc. And for all that, I don't blame ******man for running off at the mouth. I don't blame him for taking easy fights. He's old, soon to retire, will need money to retire. I just think it's a foregone conclusion that Kov is filing all this Adonis blabbering away in the back of his head, and he will be taking it all out on ******man to flat out annihilate him. It will be a colossal azz whipping rarely seen in the ring. Stay tuned, this will be one of the most interesting fights ever at LHW.

Let's talk facts for a moment. Duva petitioned the WBC for the number one ranking. Only an idiot would have thought Haymon was going to negotiate the fight. If he was going to do that, he already would have. She had to have thought Stevenson was going to vacate the belt and Kov would win it vs a soft touch.

Opinions, I think Duva is confident that Kov can beat Stevenson (so am I). I don't think Haymon has near as much faith in Stevenson. But this doesn't change anything here, Duva got outplayed.

          • Adonis is popping a lot of isht lately. I wish these two would just get in the ring already and fight. I'm getting tired of the constant talk.

Both dudes took the network money when available rather than fight each other and risk losing which would likely cut their purses.

Kov likes making easy money just as much as the next guy. That's why he chose not to go ahead with the purse bid.It doesn't have to be on HBO. Kov can fight his fights and leave HBO or not resign and take the Stevenson fight if he wants to. Or, he could have gone through with the purse bid if he really wanted to fight Stevenson.

Stevenson has a 5 inch reach advantage which makes the fight even more interesting, plus he is a southpaw.

Facts?? GYM is Stevenson's promoter so why would Haymon be negotiating anything? And I am far from an expert but if Haymon was in fact negotiating doesn't that prove that he is in fact acting as both manager as well as promoter and therefore violating the Ali Act? As for your comment starting with, "She had to have thought", proves my point that its all just speculation on your part. Because honestly you can't possibly know what she was thinking. But you are certainly free to continue to speculate on what you believe to have happened.
