I would be very surprised if that fight got signed. Other than the Mayweather cash-out, it has been a long time since Manny took on top opposition. Cant see it.

Pac will fight another Top Rank mid-level 140lb'er, possibly Provo or Vargas.

Arum and Pac are smarter then that. They know Manny needs a good win. For one Manny would probably beat everyone at welterweight. The stranger thing is why Mayweather wants to go down a few levels to fight Berto after winning on points with Pac. Anyways it's a necessary risk Arum and Pac will take. Haymon could learn a thing or to, maybe do right by making Garcia and Thurman actually elite by putting them in with each other/better opposition

        Umm.... ?

        Berto is a retirement fight.

You didn't know that Mayweather has announced his retirement ?

It has been years since Pac fought a relevant opponent, you cant think that is just a coincidence? Why would they change their gameplan now ?

What ate they talking about, Pacquiao had a severely torn shoulder, they guaranteed us it would be at least 12 months before he could fight again.

A retirement fight? Ha. Floyd will fight again and you know it. And what do you mean Pacquiao hasn't fought relative opponents?

He just fought Chris Algieri last year, because he was the WBO champion at 147 and Chris had just won the WBO strap at 140. Not only that but he gave Algieri 4 extra pounds for the weigh in.

Before that he fought Tim Bradley, who had beaten JMM (who had just knocked Manny out) and Provo. Also noting, Bradley still had his WBO welterweight belt from their first fight, which was a robbery and you know it.

Before that he fought Brandon Rios after a horrible loss to JMM. For a comeback fight after such a bad knockout, Rios was still a very relevant opponent. Also Rios has a better knockout percentage and overall resume then Guerrero. Along with that Guerrero was a career featherweight and Rios was a career lightweight. Of course excluding what Guerrero and Rios have done since they fought both Floyd and Manny.

Before that he gave JMM another rematch, really just hoping to seal the deal with JMM and finally land the Mayweather fight. We all no what happened there.

And lastly he had just fought Tim Bradley. The best fighter to come out of light-welterweight. Better than Khan, Garcia, Mathysse, Lamont, Ortiz, Maidana... all of them

You should never have mentioned Algieri/Rios.

              Bradley I accept.

Marquez is not relevant at welter. Marquez was only relevant to Pacquiao, because Manny cant beat him.

You keep changing your schools of thought on what's relevant. Algieri was the WBO champion at 140 last year. Rios's knockout percentage, style and chin speaks for itself on how he could have given Manny trouble, but he couldn't. Marquez was a great fight, and while not relevant at 147 at the time, was a highly rated atg still going strong. I think most people would agree that they would rather see Khan or Crawford fight Floyd in 2014 because they are much better opposition than Maidana, even though they weren't very relevant (if at all in Crawfords case) at welterweight.

My friend, Algieri was not, has not been, and likely will not be..... relevant.

He is a mid-level 140lb'er..... just like Rios.

And we are not discussing how good Marquez is ALL-TIME, or if that was a good fight..... we are discussing calibre of opponent.

Mayweather would have been shredded for rematching Marquez, JMM simply was not relevant at welter..... just like Algieri and Rios.

Bradley was a good opponent, but no real threat.

I highly doubt that Khan/Pacquiao happens, why would they change tactics at this stage?

Bob Arum knows damn well that he is not putting Pacquaio in the ring with Amir Khan. He is blowing more smoke up the gullible asses of the fans of #48 and they are bending over and inhaling.

I have said since the fake shoulder injury was announced that Pacquaio will return in November against Terrence Crawford.

I was wrong! He will return in February against Terrence Crawford! That is the only opponent between 140-147 that is signed to Arum that Pacquaio has not fought with whom Arum can justify a fight.
