  • Comments Thread For: Promoter: Wach is Perfect To Prepare Povetkin For Wilder

World of Boxing CEO Andrei Ryabsinki sees Polish giant Mariusz Wach (31-1, 17 KOs) as the perfect opponent to prepare Alexander Povetkin (29-1, 21 KOs) for his mandatory shot at WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33KOs). Povetkin-Wach is scheduled for November 4 in Kazan.

To get ready for Wilder, Ryanbinski says Povetkin need a tall, strong opponent and one who is very durable. Povetkin has been blasting out the competition rather easily these days and Wach has never been stopped.

Maybe it's just me but I could see an upset here

Wach is slow, durable, and doesn't throw a lot of punches.

Easy enough work for Povetkin, but it might take a lot of rounds to do the job.

Each is no class act. Just a big, ugly boxer that should cause no trouble to povetkin. Let's hope they do the testing on him because he love the juice.

Wach is actually a good boxer who wouldn't be really troubled by any but the top 15 really.

He's not especially quick or skilled but he is technically much better than he is given credit for here.

His size and durability are also serious factors.

Povetkin should win clearly but an upset here wouldn't be that out of the question.

Actually a Duhappus/Wilder upset isn't that far out of the question either, but not because Duhappus is a decent opponent like Wach, more that Wilder himself is just so ****in ****!

By the time Wilder is done "preparing", Povetkin will be 40

I dunno about an upset but easily an ugly fight. Wach will tire him out and weigh down on him for sure. Unless Povetkin is God and pulls off the early KO against a guy who laughed off Klitschko right hands.
