At 21 I would go with Vargas. He was an incredibly good fighter for 21 years old. He would have defeated Oscar in my opinion if he had fought Oscar before he fought Trinidad. Going into the Trinidad fight at 22 years old Vargas had an iron jaw and had never been down. After a terrible 4 knock down beating from Trinidad Vargas was never as quite as good or could take a punch as well. Vargas put up a damn good fight but Trinidad was a monster at 154. Canelo was not as advanced at 21 as Vargas was. The 25 year old Canelo is much improved and more dedicated to boxing than Vargas was. I think the 25 year old Canelo beats the 25 year old Vargas.
