World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman says the upcoming fall mega-fight between WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto and challenger Saul "Canelo" Alvarez - is the perfect opportunity for the young Mexican superstar to redeem himself.

Canelo faced pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September of 2013. He was dominated over twelve round in a largely one-sided contest. Since that fight, Canelo has won three fights - over Alfredo Angulo, Erislandy Lara and James Kirkland.

Of course he does. He talked a lot of **** and then put up a pathetic performance against Floyd. He looked like garbage against Lara and arguably lost that fight. He hasn't shown anything to make anyone believe he's the superstar he wants us to think he is. Don't tell me you think Kirkland was a big win. He needs to redeem himself in this fight.

i guess people don't understand Sulaiman's comment because the pathetic Showtime commentary somehow made em think Canelo did something in the Floyd fight. In Mexico, everyone made fun of him because the TV network he used to fight in sold him as JCC level and Canelo himself was arrogant as hell(can't you tell by the way he tried to outFloyd Floyd?). That complete non performance was embarrassing, everyone thought Mayweather beat him 12-0, and thought he put up as much effort as a sandbag. No one has taken him that seriously since...Cotto is known here, so he will get hype back if he wins.(and with cotto's questionable durability, i would bet on the bigger man)
