  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin’s Trainer: Stevens Bigger Puncher Than Lemieux

NEW YORK – David Lemieux has knocked out 86 percent of his professional opponents, but Abel Sanchez doesn’t believe the hard-hitting Lemieux will be the biggest puncher Gennady Golovkin has faced.

Golovkin’s trainer thinks Brooklyn’s Curtis Stevens (27-5, 20 KOs), whom Kazakhstan’s Golovkin stopped after eight rounds in November 2013, is a more dangerous puncher than Montreal’s Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs). [Click Here To Read More]

****** comment. Lemieux much more effective getting there with his shots. Stevens is much more limited. And Lemieux would KO Stevens as well.

After reading his quote I agree. I don't think Lemieux's power will be a factor at all in this fight. GGG should have an easy time with him because he is superior in every aspect of the game.

lol sanchez is doing more harm then good if we take sanchez at his words that hes been saying last week or so then lemieux is a pointless fight and hes just an overhyped fighter. if we go by what sanchez says then this fight is nothing like advertised and lemieux is not even worthy of fighting for the belt on ppv. for a fighter who has yet to fight an a or even a good B fighter for that matter sanchez sure knows how to downplay the opponent that is supposed to be ggg biggest win. but then again sanchez seems to be the one that says all the dumb stuff coming out of ggg's camp

You agree cause Sanchez told you so?? Like he's taken either Stevens or Lemieux's punches. Smh...

David can crack, make no mistake. His power's real. It's his mindset that needs to be on for this fight.

Agreed. Curtis just plods forward behind his guard, barely jabs, no setup. It's why he gets outboxed by Brinkley, N'Dam, and Tureano Johnson. Even Findley was beating him. David is far more active and puts crazy pressure on his opponents. N'Dam never had a chance to set himself until David tired later in the fight. He was blitzing Rubio before he wrecklessly dived into a Rubio counter.

Powerwise, they seem the same but I always thought Lemieux had more snap. Some his punches are like a mouse trap being set off.

Abel does talk a hell of a lot of nonsense.

Never said he couldn't. Did you read the statement?

He said Stevens' punches are snappier whereas Lemieux's are heavier and thudding. The punches that hurt the most are the ones you don't see.
