Comments Thread For: Lemieux: Cotto’s Scared Of 160, Not Real Middleweight

NEW YORK – David Lemieux doesn’t consider Miguel Cotto a real middleweight champion.

Montreal’s Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs), who won the IBF middleweight title in his last fight, is among those bothered by Cotto’s insistence on defending the WBC middleweight championship at catch weights since he won it from Sergio Martinez 14 months ago at Madison Square Garden.

Lemieux has a point but Cottos bigger than the 160lb title.

Lemieux is exactly right. If you want your opponents to weigh in the mid 150s, you should be the Jr. Middleweight champion. And Cotto is NOT bigger than the Middleweight championship! This is a belt worn by Ketchel, Greb, Walker, Cerdan, Robinson, Monzon and Hagler. Cotto is a coward masquerading as the middleweight champion.

He's a "super junior middleweight" I guess at 155 or a "juniorless middleweight" either way the faster Cotto, Mayweather, Manny and Wlad along with Hopkins and someone grab Roy and tell him its 2015 all go home so boxing has a chance to recoup from the "senior boxing traveling BS show"
You know where the fighters are the promoters, matchmakers, managers and tell the federations how and who they'll fight, and oh yeah when and where.
Get these boxing "greats" out of here !

If Cotto gets rocked the chances of seeing the guy who was dominated by Manny won't recover! Those past beatings have a tendency to lay under the skin and when the body recognizes them the brain usually resorts back to past conditions.
I hope the fight is competitive and goes 12 with an honest decsion but its time for Cotto and the rest to ..........................Go Away!

And why doesn't he comment on his stablemate, Canelo, not being a real middleweight either? Or at the very least not being a legitimate contender for the lineal MW title? C'mon, Dave! Be honest!!!
