    Cotto-Canelo: Best Win

I mentioned this before in a pretty quiet thread so I figure it's worth asking.

Whoever wins this fight, would it become the best win on either guys resume?

Personally, I believe it would be Miguel's best win if he can pull it off. However, if Canelo wins I don't think its his best win, Lara would still be the best win on either resume IMO.

Absolutely yes to both considering their stages in their careers.

i couldn't say yet. when evaluating a win i like to break it down into three categories: name value of opponent, primeness of opponent and manner of victory, and until i see the fight i obviously can't give a score for the last category, nor accurately appraise the second one. for example, prior to cotto-martinez, we knew martinez was past his best, but i don't think many of us thought he was that far gone. if canelo absolutely wipes out or whitewashes cotto, then i guess i'd give that win the edge as long as cotto didn't seem totally shot or dwarfed in size

lara didn't do enough imo, he tried to pull off a mayweather performance but fell a few steps short.

It's Canelo's biggest win by far. It is not Cotto's.

Mosley was better than Canelo is when Cotto fought him and he was a world class P4P fighter at the time. Martinez was a better win than Canelo will be as well. Canelo is nothing more than Daniel Geale in my opinion, I find both of them to be B level fighters with 1 or 2 solid wins.

You're right but at the same time Canelo didnt win. It's like they both lost to me.

I voted yes. Both fighters have been looking very good and Cotto is the middleweight champion so prestige wise Cotto is Canelo's best win although beating Lara is harder than beating Cotto in my opinion. Lara would probably beat Cotto but Cotto is far more famous and respected than Lara. I can't think of any win Cotto had that would equal beating today's Canelo because Martinez was injured going into the fight. Canelo vs Lara was close but I have no doubt Canelo deserved the win. Lara ran way to much to deserve the win. Canelo won more rounds. In the rounds they both landed an equal amount of punches Canelo was chasing and Lara was running. Canelo's punches were harder. Lara fans will always insist Lara won. They must like his retreating defensive style because that is how Lara fights whenever he fights an attacking puncher. Canelo haters also jump at the chance to say Lara beat him. Cotto vs Canelo should be a hard fought war and the career best win for the winner.
