I thought Glowacki should have been given the chance to continue but Huck looked really bad. Those last shots he took could have causednsome serious damage. At the the end of the day the ref did a good job in giving each fighter a chance to recover if the could.

It was a very good performance by the ref. It was an iffy call, but Glowacki was just coherent enough to be allowed to continue.

Some refs don't take the time to really study a fighter after getting up late from a kd. He gave the Polish guy a chance to gather himself and check him out really well. Also the ref saw the fight was competitive and didn't just want to ruin the Polish chances to prove he can continue. Well done. I'm sure if Glowacki would have not thrown back after getting up then Reid would have called the fight, but Glowacki started to trade and was able to avoid any further hard shots.

The ref's got an awful line to hold in the ring. Stop a fight to earlier & the fans wanna kill you & say you suck at your job & a boxer/trainer/manager/promoter might wanna kill you too, stop a fight to late & a boxer might die or have his life changed forever.

However, Fields assessed and gave Glowacki the benefit of the doubt, and the rest is history - as they say.
Would green ya if I could but on my phone for some reason it won't allow me to.
I think Fields final decision came when he asked him if he was good to continue, and he assessed his answer as lucid and aware - thus giving him a chance.
And he did himself a great favor upon continuing (proving the referee right)- rather than retreat to the ropes with a high-guard and be a standing heavy bag for Huck to tee off on like most boxers do after being seriously hurt and dropped, he straight up took a page of out Marquez ' s book to fire back immediately and often...
**** the very first punch he threw once the fight resumed cracked Huck and looked like Huck might fall.Last edited by Dindu_Nuffin; 08-15-2015, 08:01 AM.

I thought: "Oh ****, he is ****ed the ref gonna stope the fight", but David Fields (huge props to him) gave undefeated fighter an opportunity to continue and we all know how the fight ended.
I hope all referees (especially British) take note of this fight.
Some people may say that David Fields could have stopped the fight and it would be ok, because Glowacki looked really wobbly at "nine", but I think the ref didnt stopped the fight because:
1. Ref knew Glow was winning the fight, so he wasnt some sacrificial lamb...
2. Krzysztof didnt take a lot of punishment, before that punch landed.
3. Glow was undefeated and there was no info about his chin and ability to recuperate.
BUT, I never, ever believe in stopping a championship fight after the first KD unless the guy taking the KD has eaten a hell of a lot of punches. At this level, with a contender who has trained all his life for this moment, don't stop it. Give the guy a chance, let them catch their breath and their senses and who knows?
Edit: You're all going to hate me for this but I think the referee could have been a bit strong. On 4 separate occasions, both Huck and Glow continued fighting beyond the bell, Huck being the main perpetrator although Glow was guilty of coming up with his head and pushing back with his forearms. Both guys should have been deducted points imo.Last edited by soul_survivor; 08-15-2015, 10:47 AM.
