Comments Thread For: GGG's Coach: Pacquiao Will Face Better Foe Than Berto

Abel Sanchez, trainer for WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, expects eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao to return in 2016 against an opponent who is better than Andre Berto.

Sanchez is a little disappointed with Floyd Mayweather Jr. for selecting Berto as the opponent for September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight will headline a Showtime Pay-Per-View and Mayweather is pushing the upcoming bout as the final fight of his 19 year career.

"AT THAT STAGE IN CAREER WHERE THERE ARE NO TUNE UPS?"

        like the farewell stage?

but how about this..lets stop giving GGG passes on wat mayweathers done bc GGG is obviously at a stage where his whole career can consist of tune up...IJS

and for the ppl playing the BS mw rankings game to validate GGG's resume..how about this berto is the number 3 ranked guy by the WBA..

        GGG has 33 berto's on his resume...matter of fact 33 jososito lopez's

i'd like to see pac vs. one of the brits at wembley.

pac has fought in us, philippines, japan, china, thailand.

i'd like to see pac in uk.

or maybe mexico vs. jmm or another mexican.

This is ****** laughable. Everybody who doesn't win the Mayweather lottery fight gets idiotic. Golovkin's whole career has been tune ups yet they have reasons and catchweights to not fight Lara, Ward, etc. Pacquiao has plenty of Bertos or lower types. I use to buy into the hype. I use to be a Golovkin fan. Done with smoke and mirrors tough talking trainers and promoters send out. Let me bottom line this for everybody willing to keep it real without bias. Golovkin is the most "stipulationist" monster boxing has ever seen.

Mayweather did not win that fight last May 2. He just hug and run.
