Not really, because Mayorga and others claim he isn't under contract anymore. This has been a long legal battle. And it's pretty sick King is still going after him, he's an old and washed up fighter; he's not making much money at all in these circus shows or small time cards here and there. King will just suck out every last drop of blood.

Not only that MMA card, he did it last year regarding a boxing match:
Ricardo Mayorga pulled from card
2/6/2014
Bowing to the threat of legal action from promoter Don King, promoter Jimmy Burchfield has removed former two-division titleholder Ricardo Mayorga from the main event of his Feb. 21 card at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I.
However, King, who has promoted Mayorga for most of his career and claims that he still has a valid promotional agreement with him, sent a legal letter to Burchfield this week, demanding that he pull the 40-year-old Mayorga from the card.
The sad thing here is it's clear Mayorga is just trying to make a little bit of money. he's a 40-something year old washed up fighter. What could Don King possibly earn off this guy? I mean at this point he's screwing him just so that Mayorga can't make a living. What is Mayorga to an 85 year old Don King anyway at this point of his career? It's pretty sickening.Comment

He had to get to court with $1,000,000.00 in cash to file the emergency injunction too. He did just that too. I was looking forward to that MMA match too. It had been built up very well.
He ended up getting Mayorga on a Miami card in December of 2010.
So it looks like Don's at it again.
Partially Mayorga's fault for never severing ties with him.Comment

Any chance Haymon is involved in this somehow, behind the scenes? We already know he was trying to block Mosley/Mayorga II because he has Santa Cruz and Mares fighting on that night. Wouldn't surprise me if he encouraged King in this. Or maybe my extreme hatred of Haymon is making me jump to this conclusion.

Exaggeration, of course, but I do think he is terrible for boxing (as a sport, not for the fighters who are getting overpaid to fight male strippers) and the PBC is mostly garbage.Comment

I hadn't realized these fights were on the same night.Comment

I'd love to see contracts, 3 yr max, have to run there course before a new contract can be discussed. One of the biggest tricks in the books these days (perfected by Arum) is the don't setup the last fight on the contract until the fighter signs an extension or the fighter sits strategy for months & maybe a year & change.Comment
