WE didn't start anything. There is no we. One person said that, so don't lump us all in the same group. And try to make a rebuttal that doesn't make you sound like total hypocrite.
And for what it's worth, Canelo unified an interim belt, something most people in the sport don't even recognize as a real championship belt. When Trout schooled Cotto 10 rounds to 2. Talk about hypocrites. "It was an off night doe"

Cotto's comments got out of context. He's not disrespecting Canelo, he has given Alvarez his props, called him a "really good, strong fighter in his prime, but that he'll be ready". He just means that Canelo's name doesn't phased him cause he's been in big fights already...win or lose Cotto has fought pretty much all the big names w/ the exception of P-Will and now GGG. A lot of the hate he gets is for his nationality, i bet you put a mexican flag to his name 75% he get is gone, he'll be a "warrior".
On the fight, it's a very interesting fight...on paper it's pretty equally match, but anything can happen in this fight cause both have power and are really good finishers. So if any of them hurt the other at anytime in the fight, the fight will be over and if it happens to be early in the match their fan will be bashing the other fighter.
I'm from PR and I'm rooting for Cotto, but I like Canelo too. I appreciate his approach to the game wanting to fight tough opponents. We need more Canelos...he's physically very strong, fast hands, very good at close and mid range, great combos...he's improving on creating space and angles to attack. But his foot work is horrible, crazy slow feet and needs to set his feet to throw some power, also he pulls his punches from way back, Cotto will capitalize on these + Cotto has better footwork and boxing abilities (imho), better corner, experience, has seen it all and he's pretty strong too with power (specially his left hook) but more worn, battled and smaller than Canelo.

Ali has 5 losses, the only one people remember and talk about is his loss to Joe Frazier. When Cotto's career is over, first ballot hall of fame, next generation of boxing fans wont know or care who Trout was. Canelo is no where near that distiction, we dont know if he will be a hall of famer, and his debated fight with Trout could be more detrimental to his history then that loss is to Cotto's. The problem with you Alvarez jock strap sniffers is you want people to treat and talk of him as if he already accomplished these things. If you cant recognize and respect the hall of fame worthiness of Cotto's career, then there is absolutely no argument against the non- greatness of Canelo's career thus far.

Name canelo's notable wins (dont put kirkland cuz i'll just laugh)
The difference is Canelo is just getting started while Cotto is near the end. For a guy his age Canelo has several quality wins.
