It's a good fight. Im looking forwsrd to it. But fans have nothing to do with it. He finally fights a guy with a pulse after 1 1/2 yrs and 3 straight fights vs 10-1 ( or worse) no-hopers.

No you didn't, you were basically forced into it when mares challenged and humiliated you on live spanish radio station, you have always fought exactly the opposite of what the fans wanted. everyone is jsut hating now, this is a great fight. Yeah Mares got knocked out, but so what, **** happens. Before that fight he was in the P4P top ten and he has won 3 straight since then. People are just complaining, the grass is always greener on the other side. This is Santa Cruz biggest test and fight and I think he has a good chance to loose, he hasn't looked great in some of his recent fights

Exactly. Mares is only 29, had a good career, but he walks into one left hook from a guy with one of the nastiest left hooks in boxing and he is somehow washed up.

This fight has FOTY written all over it. I can't see how people could be disappointed with this fight.

Mares is barely managing to beat nobodies since that fight. That's why people think he's washed up. He has looked washed up in every fight since.

You're acting like the Gonzalez fight was his last fight.
