  • Comments Thread For: Cunningham Calls PED Use ‘Massive’ Problem In Boxing

NORTH BERGEN, N.J. – Steve Cunningham claimed Tuesday that there is a “massive” steroid problem in boxing, particularly within the heavyweight division.

“I’ve fought guys on steroids before and beat ‘em,” Cunningham said before an open workout at Global Boxing Gym. “I know that for a fact. I’m not saying any names, but boxing’s a small community. Everybody talks. If you’re in training camp, everybody’s trading stories. … We know steroid use is rampant in boxing. A lot of people know. Everybody should know. Guys is out here killing their wives for $200,000 in life insurance. You don’t think people are going to cheat for a possible shot at a heavyweight world title?” [Click Here To Read More]

Which is exactly why they aren't going to have random testing in his next fight lol. I don't blame only him for that, but still.

I'm pulling for Steve in this fight, and good for him for threatening to sue any opponent who tests positive. More fighters should do that.

of course ped is a rampant problem in combat sports and sports in general. no doubt about it tho that the commissions are ridiculously under testing fighters its a shame

So why isn't there any testing in your fight vs a known PED user?

exactly they don't want to catch anyone that is why tests for all sports are 15 years behind current PED's. it took them 15 years to catch lance Armstrong only because the Olympics keep the urine / blood samples

He's gotta be talking about Fury in particular. Nobody has a physique like that without a huge amount of PED's.

Fury?? he looks like a big dumb farm boy I see no sign of PED's. Joshua is what you look like when you take a ton of PED's

                  I believe peds definitely rampant

I've seen fighters physique change drastically from one fight to the next. It's a shame and blood and urine should be mandatory. Props to Mayweather and Donaire for pushing the issue to the four front.

They're probably all using but the most prominent examples would be:

                    Wlad
                    Wilder
                    Joshua
                    Takam
                    Jennings
                    Cunningham himself
                    Povetkin

Plus all the other known offenders like Wach, Tarver, Briggs etc.

Haye was definitely using during his time in the sport.
