I just saw a report about that and I can't see how this would be alongside a fight involving a Golden Boy fighter in Matthysse...

Funny seeing Haymon waste his investors money on that loser Broner. The WBA kickback and undeserved ranking fee alone on this must be astronomical

True to an extent. But fights like this, and fighters like AB are a major reason why a lotta hardcore fans like myself have basically said "hell with the belts." The problem nowadays, especially on this forum. Is that a lotta so called fans like to pretend that the belts are the most important thing in the game when it fits the agenda of their favs. So people like that have no right when an average talent like AB, who has strong promotional backing is basically handed belts because he sells tickets with something other than his boxing ability.

You can't just say "the hell with belts" though. There are fighters out there who need these belts. Who have to work hard and spend years earning shots at them. When two fighters coming off losses, completely undeserving, get those shots instead, it's a bad thing and should face backlash.

This goes to show tho that Haymon is willing to let his fighters fight whoever they want. Its just that some of his fighters like to hide behind him fighting tomato cans. You know the stevensons and the quillins of the world.

The fighters can do or think whatever they want. In my own lil personal boxing universe, belts have ZERO to do with how I rate fighters. And they have ZERO to do with fights I wanna see and the reasons why I wanna see those fights.

Example, this fight with AB is a top 10 jr welterweight fighting a fringe jr welterweight. Just because they put "title fight" on the fight poster doesn't make me view it any differently.

Another example, GGG-Lemieux. Its IMO the best middleweight in the world and a supposed elite fighting a guy that's been KO'd and beaten by C level competition. Just because they put "unification fight" on the fight poster doesn't make me view the fight any differently.

The point is that most fighters need belts in order to make good fights a reality. When those fighters are denied chances to win those belts, it's a bad thing and fans should care.

Floyd Mayweather doesn't need belts, but Keith Thurman does. Cotto doesn't, but Golovkin does.

What a poor excuse. Khabib should drop this "promoter" of his, who wouldn't do his job in getting his fighter a fight and would now rather blame another person for their lack of effort. If Haymon wouldn't have given Team Khabib a call, Khabib would probably still be MIA no thanks to Vladimir "I'm-better-at-pointing-a-finger-than-picking-up-a-phone" Hryunov.
