Manny Pacquiao speaks of next opponent & politics - calls out Mayweather for rematch

The only time I ever wanted to see Pacquiao and Floyd was back in 2009-2010.
Floyd couldn't even outdo Marquez, why would I want to watch a rematch? Pac was damaged goods his chin cracked and Floyd couldn't even drop or beat up Pacquiao.

Part of being great is how you perform how many punches you land crisp, clean with mustard and authority.

Floyd is boring, Pacquiao is shot, rematch will be boring, Floyd will run hug and hold and air jab.

You've probably checked the replay of that fight that's why you've seen the amount of horrendous air jabs that floyd thrown. It's not hitting anything but gloves and air its really frustrating, darn pacquiao was able to avoid it by a hairline or half-parried it by his glove while trying to counter punch after, this is something we floyd fans wasn't able to anticipate. This darn midget has become extremely skilled to the point that it infuriated the fans of floyd and resorted on self-denial.

Mind you, floyd is the most accurate boxer of our generation, he made virtually everyone of his opponent as a target practice, except this darn poochiao; --not only pacquiao was able to avoid most of his pot shots, but floyd can't even land a single clean heavy blow in the entire fight without it being half-parried, caught on gloves, evaded by a hairline or him getting counter punched crisply from time to time.

We unconsciously tried to put the burden on pacquiao to score alone, which is ridiculous, both should score, this is boxing and floyd is not a goalie. Yes, floyd had defended very well and so is pacquiao, but his(floyd) offense is so horrendous, in fact, he's much worse than pacquiao offensively, since at the very least pacquiao was able to land the clean and effective punches between them in the entire fight.

Another surprising factor here is pacquiao's defense, it is tremendous upon review; --while he is busy finding gaps, he was able to evade most of floyd's pot shots inch by inch and at times by a minutely hairline distance. This is something I didn't see on fight live, until I reviewed it on replay. Probably because my mind is so made up that pacquiao isn't that good defensively or it's not possible to outdo floyd defensively, I really thought floyd was hitting him cleanly, but upon review, I found out, it's mostly friggin air and glove. Fuucckk!

If we could just turn back time and not have this friggin technology all around us. The result of the fight could have been more acceptable. But today, technology is so advanced and so available publicly, it's hard to fool even the casuals anymore.

Desperation is a strong word. Pac was simply stating he wanted a rematch and there's nothing wrong with that.

Here's the thing, I really, really do not want a re-match. I am pretty much over both guys, and I would rather focus on the new wave of guys than pay 100 bucks for another let down of a fight.

That said, if they both keep on fighting (they might not, but I'd bet they will) why on Earth wouldn't they re-match?

Floyd's fighting Berto for Gods sake, he's clearly not worried about fighting the best.

Is Floyd really going to fight Kahn or Thurman when he can make 3-4 times as much to fight Manny? Is Manny going to take a rehab fight and then lose to Crawford for 1/3 of the cash he'd get from Floyd?

If they keep fighting, it's going to happen. Let's just hope they retire...

Manny Pacquiao reportedly wants a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2016 after losing by unanimous decision in their first meeting, which failed to live up to the massive hype, back in May.

Pacquiao still isn't happy with how that bout played out. He believes his more aggressive style earned him the victory, stating Mayweather "was running away all the time." But he's open to another clash, according to Joe Koizumi of Fight News.

"I'd like to concentrate my efforts on working as a politician this year, and want to fight Mayweather in a rematch," he said. "I'll be ready for that mentally and physically next year. I'll show a better performance against him than in the first encounter."

Reports emerged after the loss to Money that the Filipino superstar had battled through a shoulder injury, which impacted his performance. He noted in the Fight News interview that he now has his full range of motion back and it's no longer an issue.

That said, it's very much up in the air whether he'll get another shot at May-weather.

The undefeated (48-0, 26 KO) American originally said he'd be open to a rematch. After the dust settled a few days after the fight, however, he changed his mind. He told Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times that the outlook was altered because Pac-Man was a "sore loser" and "coward."

One other issue would be fan interest. The first deal happened—after years of verbal warfare between the camps—because a huge amount of money was on the table. It's unclear if they could come anywhere near the projected $500 million in revenue again after the first encounter was a dud.

Bleacher Report's Jonathan Snowden discussed a potential fight and why it's likely to happen:

"Just wait until early 2016, when Manny tells you how healthy he is. Wait to see that video of him in the gym hitting pads, to hear the pop of fists on bag. Trainer Freddie Roach is going to tell you Manny Pacquiao is better than he’s been in years. This time, he'll say, they won't be limited in training camp. This time we'll see the whirling dervish the world has come to love.

Not everyone will buy that particular fairy tale. Some are natural skeptics; others have been around the fight game long enough to recognize a fighter in decline. But enough people will take the bait to make the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather rematch a big deal."

Mayweather has also talked about retiring following his next fight against Andre Berto in September. It's hard to believe he would end his career after such a nondescript bout, but so far, he hasn't wavered from that stance.

There are a lot of moving pieces that make it unlikely Pacquiao and Mayweather will meet again. If they do, hopefully it's a lot more entertaining than it was the first time around.
