Comments Thread For: Selby Not High on Warrington, Eyes Lomachenko

World champion Lee Selby does not believe Josh Warrington has the requisite class to succeed at the top of the featherweight division.

Selby seized the IBF title in May from Evgeny Gradovich, out-boxing the champion until a cut eye forced the referee to stop the fight in the eighth round and go to the scorecards which were overwhelmingly in the Welshman's favour.

In his preceding bout, the 28-year-old Barry fighter dispatched Australia's Joel Brunker - who Warrington takes on live on Sky Sports on September 5 - inside nine rounds.

If hes signed with Haymon then Lomachenko is a long shot. GRJr is a good fight though. Id like to see it.

Hes right that he shouldnt be looking at Warrington until he makes it to world stage

If there's a division where this ****** barrier can be broken, featherweight is it.

It will probably be up to Lomachenko's side to put in the work, though. Haymon has Russell, Selby, Mares, Santa Cruz, and Frampton to match up. He doesn't need Loma and sure won't want Loma embarrassing his guys like he did Russell.

        Really convenient timing
Probably in the contract when one of these guys signs with Run-N-Hide promotions, they have to call for a fight that won't happen first thing.

Selby VS Gary Russell Jnr looks to be the best match out there!

Lots of good fighters are available for Selby in the Haymon stable. I think he loses to most of them though.

I'm surprised the possibility of Frampton-Selby hasn't received more attention.

I'd have thought with Frampton struggling with his weight and them both being with Al Haymon that they could have been considering setting up a big UK showdown.

If he really wanted Lomachenko, there was no need to sign with Haymon. He knows that makes it highly unlikely to happen. Just puffery.

Why isn't he asking for Russell.

I suspect he will look for Mares or Santa Cruz because he knows he's much bigger than both.

You may be right. I keep thinking Khan v Berrera, Provo v Castillo, Salka, Paulie, BERTO...
