No matter what boxer he beats, people will complain about the opponent and/or how he outboxes them. Mayweather has faced a former/current major world champion 23 times in his 48 fights. His last 12 opponents in a row were current world titleholders from Judah to Pacquiao (Guerrero was an interim champ and Maidana was a rematch). He has victories over the current #1 rated Welterweight, Jr Middleweight contenders and the Lineal Middleweight Champion a.k.a Pacquiao, Canelo and Cotto. So that's the 3 currently highest ranked boxers in 3 divisions not named Mayweather. In spite of all of this, people are still complaining about a fight they don't have to watch.

        So just don't buy it?

          Exactly.

They could always not buy the fight?

Berto might not be "the best" opponent but he's as good as many. Floyd just fought and beat the guy all his haters said would destroy him, he has earned the right to choose.

Berto is a washed up, never was boxer who needed a shady stoppage to win his last fight against Lopez, another washed up fighter. I guess victories against Lopez do get you a Mayweather fight then, Maidana beat him, so did Nelo, maybe we have solved a portion of the boxing matrix tonight? This is pretty impressive stuff.

                Perspective

32 year old Rocky Marciano beat 39 year old Archie Moore for his record setting undefeated heavyweight 49th career victory in 1955. Just 3 months earlier, Moore beat Olson for a Light Heavyweight title. History doesn't care about that fact nor that it was Moore's 174th career fight and that he had lost 20 times already. (Which isn't bad when you've fought that many times)
History also won't care that Berto is a former Welterweight champion and has only lost 3 times in his career. All that will matter is that Mayweather beat another former champion in his undefeated 5 division career. Numbers last forever......opinions change daily.
