It's not a similar situation, fighting once or twice a year with a year and a half gap in the last 10 years is not the same as fighting a touch schedule of 15 fights in 3 years with at least 5 HOFers as your opponents...if you can't see how different it is to want a light touch after a run like that, compared to one of 3 light touches that Mayweather has had in less than 5 years, then there's no point in carrying this on.

Edit: What makes me laugh is that people are actually trying to justify this fight by comparing it to something Ali did some 40 years ago. SMH.

It is just a fight that doesn't matter, they have happened before for many guys and they will happen in the future. It just isn't that big a deal~

They are similar situation because they are meaningless fights that took place after big fights. The fact that Ali fought more doesn't change the fact that he fought some meaningless fights and in particular this one.

Ali had a different career than Floyd and is viewed as greater by everyone that matters. That isn't the point here, it is about having BS fights after a big spot.

Isn't Floyd an ATG fighter too? Again, the point isn't to say Ali isn't better than Floyd, but both are certainly the best fighters of their generation. Floyd deserves some criticism about certain things but are we still pretending Floyd isn't one of the greatest fighters the sport has seen? Obviously he's going to be ranked top 100 of all time by any credible boxing historian, if not top 50, if not top 30, so it's like what are we really doing here, downplaying Floyd's career and boxing skills? He's beat just about everyone there was to beat.

Anyways, its not just Ali vs Chuck Wepner, there are countless other examples too. The point isn't to justify the fight and say its a quality fight, no, the fight sucks anyway you slice it! All I'm saying is boxing history is littered with fights just like this, Floyd isn't alone here.

Its factual though, Ali did fight Wepner after a huge fight in Foreman. What one does with that information from there is solely opinion based.
