Brook always fights his mando's, but they will make an exception for Spence and try to put it off as long as they can? We will find out sooner or later

A win over Chris Van Heerden, where does that put Spence rankings within the IBF?

Haymon is simply positioning things for 147 post-Floyd Mayweather. Ignore the WBO and Haymon is pretty well-positioned with the WBC/IBF/WBA 147 fighters.

Not sure if he'll pull the trigger on the idea, but he could pretty well set up a Super Six-type tournament at 147 on PBC starting 2016 (use the rest of the year to fully introduce everyone to the boxing audience and put folks into position)

Brook, Khan, Thurman, Porter, Garcia, Spence (Maidana, Sammy Vaquez Jr, and Berto as alternates) could all face off with one another and determine the new kingpin at 147. timing is a pain, but getting Spence into a viable spot makes it a possibility.

Seems like a good opponent for Spence. The reality is Thurman vs Spence isn't a legit fight for a year at least & probably more like 18-24 months away. And thats assuming both keep winning.

Always, as in a bunch of times? He fought JoJo Dan and Frankie Effin Gavin. He's on a pidgeon diet.

I don't see it as that bad of a fight. Van Heerden while not great is a pretty good test. He can fight a bit.

Certainly not a bad name on the resume.

He's ranked 7th by the IBF.

Well when you put it like that, I prefer American. A bum is a bum, color doesn't help in the ring. Let's keep Americans employed and maybe ease the stress.

Good move by Spence in my book. Still early for us to have actually expected Thurman or Porter.

Van Heerden is better than the last guy Spence fought and is better than the guy Spence was supposed to fight instead of the late replacement. Quite a bit better actually.

Generally speaking if a guy is fighting a better opponent than the last guy they fought, that is usually fair enough.

Spence has a lot of career in front of him so no need to rush.
