Algieri wasn't the best opponent Pac faced, but what were the other choices. Thurman or Garcia or other haymon fighters were not gonna face Pac. So please illuminate us as to the better fights that Pac decided not to make - such as here where Floyd could've fought Garcia, Thurman, porter, Brook or Khan
Plus, Algieri was undefeated and a champion at the time Pac fought him. Right before the win over Provo, Algieri had a solid win over Emmanuel Taylor, who is also better than anyone Berto has beaten in the past 4 years.Comment

Berto is not "the best" fight out there for Floyd.Yes, Khan picked Algieri for a reason, we know that. But, Algieri actually looked good and fought impressively in that fight. I think that was more of a case of Algieri exceeding expectations that Khan fighting poorly.
And, no, the same people would not all be criticizing the Khan pick. There will always be people that complain no matter what. smart boxing fans and insiders all agree that Khan would have a better chance of winning than Berto. Khan is just a better boxer, plain and simple. better footwork, better defense, and at this point in their careers, probably faster than Berto.
BTW, nice for you to at least admit that Berto isn't anything to get excited about. lol.
Neither is Khan.
Berto got it, Khan didn't.
So what? Why all the butt-hurt?
Don't want to watch it, don't.
As regards Berto/Khan respective merit (or lack of depending how you view it), they both have obvious flaws.
Neither one significantly more or less than the other imo.Comment

There's arguments for everything. While those fighters may be more deserving, you and I or anyone could dissect their last few opponents to discredit them being deserving.
Garcia? Malignaggi, Salka, and in my eyes a loss to Peterson? And just recently moved to WW
Brook? Mando's, and Porter?
Thurman? Collazo, Guerrero, who else Bundu?
Porter? Broner? Alexander?
I can state that Thurman fought at 154 in the ams, and Porter fought at 154 in his early pro career, also probably in the ams, dropping to 147 to remain competitive cause you realize in the pro's you won't be in your own weight class is embarrassing as well.Comment

You act like it's my fault Manny has little to choose from as far as the Top Rank stable. All I'm pointing out to is the fact that the fight was not as highly criticized as this one, when the caliber of opponent is well you all can call it the same, but Berto is more established in this sport called boxing vs Chris Algieri.Algieri wasn't the best opponent Pac faced, but what were the other choices. I'm not defending the pick of Berto, I was agreeing with the post stating no one questioned that fight.Comment

LOL. so Rod Salka isn't the best out these either, but wouldn't you agree that Berto and Khan desrve it more. Very flawed argument - so if its not the very best - than anyone else will do. not much you can say to this. anyone that thinks Berto has as good of a chance to beat Floyd than Khan really doesn't know much about the sport. end of storyBerto is not "the best" fight out there for Floyd.

is this joke - how did I act like it was your fault - I was stating facts. are you serious? You act like it's my fault Manny has little to choose from as far as the Top Rank stable. Pac didn't have a lot of options last fall, so he fought an undefeated 140 lb titlist who had two good wins in his last couple of fights. Berto has looked more horrendous each time out.
and being "established" means nothing. Shane Mosely is "established" but he's far from his prime. I think most smart boxing minds would agree that Berto is not the same fighter he was when he "established" himself 6-7 years agoComment

of course there are arguments for everything - but those fighters are more deserving - you said it. how ever you want to pick apart those opopnents, none of them would even be a 10-1 underdog, much less 40-1 underdog. it's bc the vegas books, like most know the chances of Berto winning are a little better than winning MegamillionsThere's arguments for everything.
