Doubtful, he was born just over a decade before Shane Sr. married Jin. It actually reminded me of something that's a little ****ed with the divorce arrangement. It's essentially cheating Shane's other children out of their inheritance.
The laws need to be revised. I saw the argument that it is for the benefit of marriage but the laws only serve as a deterrent for those who stand to lose money. If you know that you can walk out, with a bag full of money you played a small part in earning, you're not going to have an incentive to work things out.
One argument is that it is for the benefit of the children involved, but the fact of the matter is we live in a world where people have children from different relationships. Splitting the pot 50:50 effectively elevates the children born in wedlock over those born out of wedlock or under a marriage in a different state.
The law shouldn't be used to further an individual's spite, and it most definitely shouldn't allow the malicious robbery of a man to be sanctioned under the pretence of survival or doing right by the children involved.
