Comments Thread For: Scott Quigg vs. Nonito Donaire Soon on The Horizon?

Defending WBA 'regular' super bantamweight champion, Scott Quigg, fresh off his two round destruction of Kiko Martinez on July 18th, is currently in Los Angeles, making his annual pilgrimage to all the gyms in Southern California. In his future could be a showdown against the accomplished Nonito Donaire in the fall.

    Dammit, no...

Now we'll never get the Frampton fight when both are undefeated.

is the consensus that Nonito done at the top now? He looked pretty sharp last fight even ignoring the opponent - he still looks fast as hell. I haven't followed quigg as closely as others - how close is this fight?

Would be a nice fight, but I don't know how likely it is.

We'll see what happens with the Arum-Hearn meeting in London.

They've been talking about it for a few months now. I can see it possibly happening but someone is going to have to give up home soil.

donaire is nowhere near done at the top his only losses are to the best pure boxer in the sport in rigo and a big puncher walters who is really a lightweight fighting smaller guys at featherweight.donaire would be the favorite to beat everybody else at 122 or 126.

I think there's a fair chance this fight will get made. Pretty clear that both guys are keen, and there's definitely a market for it. Nonito is still big with the Filipinos and Quigg's profile just got lifted in the UK with that destruction of Kiko Martinez. In line with whatever pays best I reckon Donaire would be prepared to fight in England and I'm sure Quigg would be happy to get it on in the States or Dubai. The prospect of an exciting battle would sell the match and it could indeed be a thriller but, then again, each will know the other guy spells danger and it could just as easily turn into a caution packed bore with neither willing to risk much. We won't find out which it is till fight time but getting the actual deal done shouldn't prove all that difficult.
