Comments Thread For: SHO Exec: Mayweather is Firm That Berto is Final Fight

WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is insisting that his upcoming fight with Andre Berto will be the final fight of his pro career, according to Stephen Espinoza, executive vice president and general manager for Showtime Sports.

There have been industry rumors that Showtime/CBS is negotiating a three fight contract extension with Mayweather - a rumor that Espinoza denied last week to BoxingScene.com.

If this was his farewell fight then ok cool I'm down with it even at PPV but at a reasonable price like $49.99 HD. But we al now this isn't his last fight. Show is just saying that to sell the fight. Right after the fight Floyd is going to announce a two fight extension worthatleast $40 mil a fight or haw HBO and showtime go to a bidding war at who will get a crack at that 50th record breaking fight. I'm streaming this bogus fight and I've never
Streamed a boxing match. Ever! I've paid for all PPV since I can remember

What a suitably pathetic finale. I'd sooner pay to watch him fight Mickey Rourke. Who cares.

BS. But this is what was demanded of Floyd, to sell it and market it as the FINAL FIGHT which increases appeal and also magnifies/further glorifies a possible return. Both purposes increase profitability, it is clear to see what their strategy is.
