Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: ****, I Nearly Made Soto Karass-Berto II

There are certainly no friendly feelings between Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya and WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

They broke all types of records when they faced each other in 2007, with Mayweather winning a close twelve round split decision. The HBO Pay-Per-View generated over 2.4 million pay-per-view purchases and that record stood until this past May, when Mayweather's fight with Manny Pacquiao crushed that number with a 4.4 million buyrate figure.

Funny thing is if that fight was announced instead people would be saying "Eh, Soto Karass could have picked a better opponent".

Berto should be fighting Roberto Garcia, Luis Collazo, Mike Alvarado, or Randall Bailey.

No need for that rematch. Decisive KO.

Berto is the bottom of the barrel. He really has to shop around to find wins.

This is sadly true. A Berto rematch would've been a cherrypick

What would be a true 50/50 fight for Berto?

How I see it he's about half way between Rod Salka and Mike Alvarado, slight favorite over the first and underdog vs the latter.
