Never heard of Chris Van Heerdan. A quick check to Boxrec looks like he has some decent wins altho two of his last three have been of the split decision variety. At least he's never been stopped before. Hopefully it's a decent fight. Spence has fought only bums so far...

Van Heerden sucks, but he's ranked and it's a good match up for Spence. They obviously aren't going the Lomachenko route with Spence and that's OKAY.

Karpency-Stevenson is just garbage, though. But hey I guess, you get what you pay for when it comes to consumers-products- and this is infact free TV

For a very young Spence Jr, Van Heerdan is a solid opponent for him but for someone like Kell Brook, that would have been AWFUL!

Let Erroll work his way up, No Shortcuts just because Mayweather is Co-Signing Him!

Pretty much. If Spence is the goods, this shouldn't be too tough of a challenge for him.

Would like for him to fight someone on the devon alexander level, but not devon alexander. Maybe a Hank Lundy, but I think he's 140. Robert Guerrero should've been the victim here. it may have set him up for Thurman.

This could've been Lamonts first WW fight, but that may be too big of a step up, considering Lamont probably beats Porter and Thurman at 147 if he doesn't get scared of Thurman's power like he did with Lucas.

Chris Van Heerdan on Boxrec ranked 27 Errol Spence ranked 32. Heerdan has gone 12 rounds 8 times 10 rounds twice Spence has gone 10 rounds once solid matchup small step up for Spence

I actually like this match up. Van Heerden will definitely go rounds and give Spence the biggest test of his career.
