Comments Thread For: Manager: Golovkin Fight Takes Lemieux To Next Level

The career of David Lemieux, the IBF's middleweight champion, will go to another level when he faces WBA/IBO champion Gennady Golovkin in a unification on October 17th at New York's Madison Square Garden. The fight will be carried by HBO Pay-Per-View.

Camille Estephan, President of Eye of the Tiger Management (EOTTM), who guide the career of Lemieux, sees the fight with Golovkin as the perfect opportunity to break away from the rest of the pack in Canada. Bigger stars like Adonis Stevenson, Jean Pascal and Lucian Bute have been featured on HBO and Showtime, but none of the three have headlined a major pay-per-view event in America.

      At least, he'll. get paid...

Because in the ring he will go out on his shield... Lemieux get major props for taking this fight so soon after winning a World Championship Belt...

But GGG takes another step in unifying all the middleweight belts... This should be a entertaining fight for about five or six rounds, Lemieux does have the punchers chance regardless of what people might think...
GGG wins by KO in 6 ....

At least he's not scared to fight the best in the division after getting one belt. David is a fearless fighter! This is what it's all about - to fight the best even though you are a big underdog!

I give credit to Lemieux for taking this fight. But I don't think that Oscar De LaHoya wanted this fight. It happened when Tureano Johnson was named as the mandatory for Lemieux. Tureano Johnson is very very tough and good. He easily beat Stevens and got beat by the referee. When Oscar and company suddenly seen that it was very likely that Tureano was going to face Lemieux they suddenly decided to take the gamble and go for GGG. At least Lemieux might get lucky but he for sure would get much more exposure and money fighting GGG than Tureano. But it will likely be a great fight for the first few rounds. Both Lemiuex and GGG like to control the centre of the ring and push their opponent. We will see who pushes who. GGG is too dominant and will dominate the centre of the ring for most of the fight. This will be the first time that Lemieux will not be able to follow his game plan.

The Golovkin fight will take Lemieux to ground level so I can only deduce that he's currently at basement level.

Yeah as people have said already, big respect to Lemiux for taking this fight and not holding the belt hostage.

After this fight he might find himself knocked down a few levels rather than raised up a level though, with a tough rebuilding job to follow.

People were saying the same thing about N'Dam, that Lemieux would pass on the IBF title shot because of what N'Dam did to Stevens....... Tureano is not that tough. Watch Johnson/Gavronski, Lemieux's not afraid of that guy.
