So he went from middleweight to heavyweight and Mayweather is afraid of fighting at middleweight vs GGG. Sigh.

That Kirkland KO was so excellent. And the whole story around it was great. HBO had to find a Japanese interpreter in the audience to interview Ishida post-fight. And then that guy worked the corner of Ishida fights for the remainder of his career. Can you imagine how great that guy felt? Goes to the U.S. to see one of his favorite fighters, gets on HBO to interpret, then gets to work the corner of one of his favorite fighters? Someone needs to write a book about that one.

And then Ishida goes from MW up to HW to finish his career. He was like the Japanese Darnell Boone.

Enjoy your retirement champ, and all the honor and accolades from your fellow countrymen and women. You deserve it.

That card was one of the best I've ever seen; had Kirkland vs Ishida, Katsidis vs Guerrero and Morales vs Maidana, all 3 were cracking fights.
That was a heck of a card and Morales v Maidana was an unexpected gem!

Ishida will be missed, an exceptional journeyman.

Will be remembered for finishing Kirkland in one round when he was brought there to be cannon fodder for Kirkland. I also remember him taking flush shots from GGG and waving him on telling him to bring more. He did get flattened in the end though.

Anyway, i hope he made some decent money and has a happy retirement.
