  • Kell Brook vs Lamont Peterson is actually a good fight

No ****** comments as I'm being serious. Kell Brook is in the elite and 147 and Lamont Peterson planned on moving to 147. Stylistically this is a very good match up in my opinion. Peterson is a tough durable guy who can put the earmuffs on and pile the pressure or he can be slick and make you miss as he did vs Garcia. It would be a tough fight and also an entertaining one. You'd have to rightfully favour Kell but Peterson is tough and looked good in his last outing vs DSG which he could have won if he put his foot down earlier. Would anyone be interested in this fight? A step up from Dan and Gavin who's been in with a lot of good names and would be intersting to see how Kell deals with someone slick (which he hasn't done yet) or someone that's in your chest, same height as you as doesn't smother his own work. Also, I don't see Brook stopping Peterson, Lamont has a lot of dog in him.

    I've never rated Peterson.

Him moving up and fighting one of the biggest guys at 147 who is skilled and powerful seems like a bad idea IMO.

Brook gets him out of there inside 6.

Lamont would be the second best guy Kell would have fought so that's a step in the right direction for sure.

I respect Lamont Peterson's ability but for some reason I can never get excited about watching this guy fight.

I'd watch it though, it solves Brook's problem temporarily, but I watch anything boxing regardless.

          Fight serves no real purpose.

I couldn't stop laughing when Kell said that he had to go through it the hard way.

Just rewatched Brook-Porter for the first time since I watched it live and it was the first time I scored it... I had it 114-114. Jim Watt had it 115-113 Porter. The way some of you fanboys make it sound like the fight wasn't close is laughable. Porter's extremely high workrate made a lot of the rounds nip and tuck and they could have gone either way. I can see how either guy could have nicked it. If you saw either guy as dominant then you are either fooling yourself or don't know how to score fights for ****. I'm glad Brook won and I was cheering for him but the fight was far from obvious and the judging was very subjective. Porter threw over a 100 more punches and landed 4 less. I think Kell however would have an easier time in the rematch as Porter is pretty one dimensional.

                It's a solid defence.

That would be a real good fight. Peterson could give Kell a hard time on the inside if the ref doesn't allow excessive clinching. I'd be 60-40 in favour of Kell though.

I think it's a mystery how he kept the belt for so long but I don't doubt his ability, he can use a high guard to walk you down or makes you miss with good movement, he's a good boxer who did some 'GOOD' work with Floyd. It'll be interesting to see how Kell does with someone who can box well as he hasn't faced a top boxer (someone slick) yet. Also I just don't see Kell stopping Peterson, Lamont has a lot of dog in him.
